Does not apply to students in the programme of Bachelor of Business Administration and Languages. Only the new entrants are eligible to apply for the exemption exam.
The following students may apply for the exemption exam:
- Students from Finland who have finished secondary school with grade 7 in English
- Students who have completed the previous level of education in English the UK, the USA, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Ireland with the result in English at least 90%, each application will be reviewed separately
- Students who have graduated from an International Baccalaureate School (with the instruction in English) with the result in English at least 90%, each application will be reviewed separately
- Students who submit a certificate of an internationally recognized language test corresponding to Common European Framework of Reference for Languages level C1. The certificate has to be issued no earlier than two years before the date of submission.
The exemption exam can be taken only once.The student will pass the exemption exam with the score of at least 81%.The student who has passed the exam is exempt from the courses of the English language in the respective programme. The exemption exam takes place twice a year, in the beginning of September and in the beginning of February. The exemption exam consists of two parts. The written part lasts for 4 academic hours and accounts for 75% of the total exam grade. The oral exam takes place on a fixed date after the written exam and accounts for 25% of the total exam grade.
The exemption exam is NOT a language proficiency exam and is based on the course materials of each programme.
