There are 10 different doctoral curricula where doctoral students’ can study both in Estonian and English. The doctoral curricula are in the fields of education, humanities, social sciences, natural sciences and health sciences.
The nominal duration of doctoral studies is 4 years but it is possible to study part-time or as an extern. In order to obtain a doctoral degree, the student has to complete the curricula, conduct a research, write and defend the doctoral thesis.
We believe that by mixing different schools of thought and traditions together, new and innovative ideas come to life and independent young researchers and top specialist with critical thinking evolve. Due to this, our goal is for all our doctoral students to obtain the experience of studying abroad and doing research. There are different scholarships and our university helps the doctoral students to find a suitable foreign university or a research organisation.
